Download JDK documentation from http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
Unzip the zip file to the JDK directory
In NetBeans IDE
1. Choose Tools > Java Platform Manager from the main window.
2. Select the platform to which you want to add Javadoc in the left panel of the dialog box.
3. In the Javadoc tab, click Add ZIP/Folder and specify the location of the Javadoc files.
4. Click Close.

Netbeans site has lots of duplicate instructions on importing other libraries & jars for custom javadoc but there I couldn't find help on how to import the java core doc apis
your post was so helpful, i haven't realized I needed javadoc until I was on trouble, but now everything seems to work fine
I've added a jar file to netbeans, how do I get the javadocs to show up when I insert a class from that jar? Same way?
Thanks a lot!
Thanks ! !
i too thank you very much. this seems simple enough to do, yet the site won't tell you how and those of us new to this development thing gotta' read how to do it all somewhere.
again, thanks. :)
Perfect! Worked great in ubuntu.
NetBeans 6.5 you can add the .zip archive directly in place of the address of the javadoc. Using the excellent advice it finds the javadoc. Thanks
